Bringing The Man Engine to South Wales

The Man Engine Cymru project was a collaboration across the cultural sector in Wales, with Swansea University working in partnership with Cadw, National Museums Wales, five local authorities (Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr, Rhondda and Swansea), Head 4 Arts and Golden Tree Productions.

 

Equinox was commissioned to lead on PR and digital marketing for The Man Engine’s Welsh tour, working closely with partners from the tour announcement stage in October 2017 until the tour itself in April 2018.

     Tactics

  • Prepared a media package to announce the tour in October 2017
     

  • Announced the release of advance tickets for the Man Engine Cymru tour, including a full media package
     

  • Managed the launch press events at Blaenavon and Swansea, with management of photography, videography, media attendance and a Ministerial visit from the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas 

     Results:

  • 75 pieces of regional, Welsh National and UK National media coverage, including Wales Online, BBC Wales Today, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Breakfast
     

  • ​​Huge amount of positive social media coverage, from tweets by high profile journalists to great feedback from members of the public
     

  • PR OTS of 33.9m
     

  • 43,000 ticket sales
     

  • 2.5m reach (+4,931% on target) and 97k engagements (+1,154 on target) on social media
